Netball

Netball - Students verses Staff

Friday was fun, because both of the year 7/8 netball teams got to play a  netball game against the staff. Our coach Mr Sy played in centre and when we were at the Canterbury's he joked about beating me in centre, but when I went on in centre I got to play against Mr Wallis. He's a lot taller than Mr Sy, I wish I'd had Mr Sy.
It was a really cold day, so it was great to run around and get warm.
It was really hard to play against the teachers, because they were so tall and pushy! Mr Forman scored some of the teachers goals and the teachers won both games. they are very competitive!

Choir

Choir

On Friday I had choir in the morning. We are practicing for the concert that we are doing at the Music Festival. It's getting quite close now, so we have to practice hard every week. I'm really looking forward to going to perform in October.

Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka

On Friday after Te Reo, I had Kapa Haka in the hall.  We had to take off our shoes and put them on the seats with our Te Reo books. Then we went and got a poi and practiced with it ready to sing. It was hard to learn the poi, because some of us missed last weeks practice, when we were at Halswell School doing the Scratch day. So when the song played, we first watched the others and if we new some of the poi we could join in. Eventually I got the hang of it and the song went well.

Scratch (Must-Do)

 Scratch

On Friday morning, 20 year 7/8's got together at school to walk to Halswell school, but sadly I couldn't as I still had a cold, but ended up going in the car.
When we arrived we were told to make a suitable computer game for years 3-4, that they can use at home. It took me a whole day to nearly finish  my frustrating game.

My game was about a cat that would answer questions from a baseball and if he answered it wrong, he would get hit by the ball.

I will tell you one of the questions that the cat would have had to of answered.  True or False, are people superheros everyday? The would cat reply with true or false to the baseball.

I had enjoyed going to Halswell school, and learning how to make my own computer game.

Here is the app that we had to use for to make our games.

Librarian

Librarian

Today I had librarian on. Monique and I walked to the library, because we had to put the books away. We had to put a lot of books away. When we had finished, Mrs Ward said that we could sit down on the soft chairs at the desk ready for someone to get a book out. Three people got book's out. It was really fun, because we could scan a bar-code, and it would come up with the book title and the person's face that was taking it out. I decided scanned my brother's bar-code, and it came up with three book title's. All of them were overdue. So I asked Mrs Ward if she had any paper, so that I could write it down. When I got home I went into Jack's room to find the three books, so that I could take them back on Friday.

Librarian Friday morning tea

Librarian Friday Morning Tea

It was Friday and we had to go to the library and  finish off the rest of the books. We had to take our morning tea with us. When we got into the library, Mrs Ward was in there. We then sat at the table and got to work on the books. Mrs ward told us that if we needed her she would be in the staff room. We did finally finish the books and sat down to have our morning tea. I really like doing that job, it was really fun.

Librarian

Thursday, last week, I had Librarian. Mrs Ward was in the library, myself and two others had to take a pile of books and put them on the shelves. Then Mrs Ward had another job for Monique and I to do, once we had put the books away. We had to tape and stamp a book called Greedy Cat. There was at least 50 copies, for the book room. We had to tape the front, middle and back, which was my job and Monique's job was to stamp Oakland's school in the book. We got half of the books done, but we had to go, because we had science on, so we had to come back on Friday at morning tea to finish off the rest.

Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka

On Tuesday we had an open night for Oaklands school. We sang two songs Whakataka Te Hau, He Honere and pai mai. We had to wear our Kapa Haka uniform to the hall and then we had to go to the library to take off our shoes and walk to the hall when it was raining. I had enjoyed singing the song and performing to parents and children I hope we get to do more performing.
