Student Council (Excellence Badge)

Excellence Badge Can-do

Student Council

Every time at about 12:30 on Wednesday all of the Student Councilors from year 4-8 to meet together. I go with Brooke, Sam L and Amelia. The people from our class got chosen was Brooke, Sam L, Amelia, Madyx, Finn and me got chosen to be in the Student Council from our class, there are also more from the other class, we also have the Heads and deptys Which are Kyla, Dylan, Jack W and Hannah.

What we do in Student Council is talk about the things that are coming up like doing a Pet Day and we recently did a fundraiser to help out Plunket and we each gave $1 for a Mufti day.

The leaner quality I show in Student Council is coming to Student Council every Wednesday.

The leadership that I showed was to always to contribute to all discussion.

Being a good house leader (Excellence badge)

Excellence badge can-do

Being a good house leader

Today was assembly. I am a house captain, so that means that I get to sit at the front of the stage. Every time we have a school full assembly the house captains, house co-ordinator and sports co-ordinator get to sit at the front of the stage and the deptys and heads get to sit at the back of the stage on the right behind Mrs Trotter.

In assembly we have to be role models in the front, so that we are good at the front and to show the juniors in the front. When I stand up for the National anthem I put my hands beside me. The leaders have to show the care values at all time to show everybody that we show them.

The learner quality I showed were being a good role model by doing all the CARE Values in the assembly and also standing up straight for the National anthem.

I showed leadership by showing all of the CARE Value in assembly.
Here is a photo of the care values

Excellence Badge Can-do

When I get to the library I have to make sure that it is the right day for me to be there to do my duty. Then I check who I am doing the job with. I am usually reading with Emma H and Jessica.

These are very good book's for year 1's and 2's.

I have decided to try and find different books to read to the juniors, because they always like reading Barbie. So I searched up books for juniors, and Google came up with the Hunger games, but I don't think that is a very good book for my junior readers.

I am being more involved in my duty by showing learner qualities of choosing new books to read to make it more interesting. I showed leadership by making the decision to find new books by myself and using Google to help me.

Cross Country

Cross Country

On Wednesday I got the chance to go to the next level, which was competing with the Intermediates. When I got to Roto Kohatu the first thing was to walk around the race track with my Mum.
In my race there was about 40 girls, but 5 didn't come and 2 didn't finish. So I competed against 32 people in my race.
I had to run a 1km track three times around Roto Kohatu, which looked really easy, but when I was running it was really hard.

In the photo below is me going up a steep hill, when I was doing my walk around the track.

When the race started I got a bit nudged with some people and I had to try and get out of it. In the end I came 16th out of forty runners.
Here is a link to show where I came in the race, which is on the forth page.

Here is another photo of me running in my race and I still had two laps to go.

Canterbury Cross Country

In the Canterbury cross country I went with a lot of people that I new and that everybody that went from Oaklands school did really well and that I got 8th, last year I got 5th, but I did really well this year and that I can't wait to do it next year.

This is a photo at the end of the Canterbury Cross Country.

Computer Duty (Excellence Badge)

Computer Duty

This Afternoon we had assembly to go to, so Reia and I got all of the Chromebooks and just put them into the Chromebook hub, because we new we wouldn't have time to do them after we get back from assembly. When we were in assembly we remember that we hadn't plugged in the Chromebooks, so I got Mr Ladbrook's keys for the classroom and Reia and I ran back to class so we could get the Chromebooks done in time for the bell.

On a Tuesday morning, Reia and I have to get to school really early, because we have technology, so I try to get the Chromebooks done and when I have done that I usually go and help Monique and Sam W out by taking them and putting them on the side.

The learner quality that I showed was to remember to do the Chromebooks and to lock the classroom after woulds.

I showed leadership by never forgetting to do the Chromebooks.

Student Led Conference Reflection

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were:
Sharing my SLC to my parents, because it was really good to share my results.

What went well and why?
What I think went well was that I was ready and focus on getting my SLC done in time.

What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC?
Getting everything done before the Friday and I got really scared on presenting to my parents

What changes would you make for next time and why?
Nothing, because I did was really good.

Computer Duty (Excellence Badge)

Excellence badge Can-do

The Computers that we have at school are Acer Chromebooks. The school have just bought quite a few more of them that are kept in Mrs Patterns room. In the morning other students from the school are also leading as being Computer Monitors, by going to Mrs Patterns room and getting their class room's Chromebooks. Then at the end of the day, they take them back to Room 11.

This is a link to a picture of the Acer Chromebook
Acer Chromebook

In Room 11, they have the same Chromebook hub as us and Reia has been going to there classroom to teach them how to take them out and put them back in carefully.

The learner quality I showed was being a role model by being careful with the Chromebooks

I showed leadership by getting there early to school and remembering to do my job.

When I got to the library I had to make sure what job I was going to be doing. I was choosing books to read down to the juniors. One of the books that we usually read to the juniors is:

I usually use my finger to help them follow which bit I am reading to them. This might help with their reading. After reading to the juniors for about 20 minutes, it was time to go back to the library.

The learner quality I showed was resilient by reading to them the same book week after week.

How I showed leadership was by taking the books back and putting them in the right place to help Mrs Ward out.

Next week I am going to be resilient by trying to pick new books to read to the juniors, something different, not barbie books, because they need to move on from barbie books.
